Mindfulness Meditation Group for Therapists

Helping Graduate Therapy Students & Licensed Therapists Become More Present, Grounded, and Attuned

Mindfulness Meditation for Therapists supports graduate therapy students and licensed clinicians in developing a daily meditation practice that strengthens presence, emotional regulation, focus, and therapeutic attunement.

Since 2016, Chelsea has led mindfulness meditation groups for George Fox University graduate therapy students, helping future therapists become more grounded, confident, and present both in the therapy room and in their daily lives.

As Therapists, Our Presence Is One of the Most Powerful Tools We Bring Into the Room

Before we can deeply attune to our clients, hold emotional space, and remain grounded through complex clinical work, we must first learn how to sit with ourselves.

Through Mindfulness Meditation groups for graduate therapy students and licensed therapists, I help participants develop a daily meditation practice that strengthens focus, calms the chatter of the mind, and deepens their capacity to be fully present — both in the therapy room and in their personal lives.

This work supports therapists in becoming more aware of their internal states, more regulated in moments of stress, and more confident in their ability to hold a calm and steady presence for others.

Why Mindfulness Matters for Therapists

Therapy is not only about what we say. It is also about the quality of presence we bring.

A consistent meditation practice can help therapists and graduate therapy students strengthen emotional regulation, sharpen focus, calm anxiety, and become more attuned to the needs of their clients.

When therapists learn how to quiet the mind and regulate their own nervous system, they become more capable of offering grounded, compassionate presence to others.

Mindfulness helps future and current therapists learn how to sit with silence, tolerate discomfort, notice internal reactions, and return again and again to the present moment.

A Consistent Meditation Practice Can Help Therapist

A daily meditation practice can support therapists and graduate therapy students in developing the inner steadiness needed for meaningful clinical work.

Through continued practice, participants may experience

  • Greater ability to manage anxiety and stress

  • Increase emotional regulation

  • Stronger focus and attention

  • More confidence in the therapy room

  • Deeper attunement with clients

  • A calmer presence with family and loved ones

  • Greater ability to sit with silence and uncertainty

  • More peace, joy, steadiness throughout the day

  • A deeper connection to self, intuition, and inner wisdom

The practice of meditation becomes more than a coping skill. It becomes a way of being.

A Practice for Focus, Presence, and Inner Stillness

In these groups, participants are guided through mindfulness meditation practices designed to support both personal growth and professional development.

I teach meditation as a practice of sharpening focus, calming the mind, building self awareness, strengthening presence, deepening attunement and becoming more conscious of one’s internal world.

Participants are invited to practice sitting, breathing, listening inward, and learning how to be with their thoughts, emotions, sensations, and internal experiences without immediately reacting to them.

I believe the continuous practice of sitting and going quiet creates a powerful gateway into deeper awareness — a space where clarity, healing, creativity, and new possibilities can emerge.

Who This Course Is For

This course is especially supportive for graduate therapy students who are learning how to become grounded, ethical, emotionally aware clinicians.

Graduate students often experience pressure, performance anxiety, uncertainty, and self-doubt as they begin stepping into the therapist role. Mindfulness meditation helps students learn how to slow down, trust their inner wisdom, and become more comfortable with silence, presence, and the unknown.

This work is also supportive for licensed therapists who want to deepen their presence, reconnect with their inner grounding, and strengthen their ability to hold space without becoming depleted.

Whether you are just beginning your clinical training or have been practicing for years, this work supports the inner foundation needed to hold space with clarity, steadiness, and compassion.

About the Group Experience

These mindfulness meditation groups are held virtually through Zoom and are designed to be accessible, supportive, and experiential.

Participants are guided through meditation practices, reflection, and discussion that help bridge the connection between personal mindfulness practice and therapeutic presence.

This is not simply a meditation class.

It is a space for therapists and future therapists to understand how mindfulness strengthens the inner foundation needed for meaningful clinical work.
